Position Details

STATUS: Ongoing, Part time role

HOURS: 16.0 hours per fortnight (additional adhoc hours also available)

BRHS is offering a fantastic opportunity to be supported to pursue your oncology nursing career.  We are seeking a talented Registered Nurse who is interested in further developing their skills in cancer care nursing and we will provide a range of opportunities and support to progress your specialised nursing career. 

The Position:

You will deliver holistic high standard care in the management of cancer and medical treatments, ensuring a safe, non-threatening environment for staff, patients and their support person/family.  Oncology experience is preferred, however if you have limited experience in this area but have excellent assessment skills & acute experience, our experienced team will support you to use your critical thinking and assessment skills to increase your knowledge in this field. 

A willingness to undertake post graduate study in Cancer Care Nursing is highly desirable and provides an applicant with career progression opportunities as they work towards demonstrating excellence in this specialty field. Opportunities to undertake post graduate study in cancer nursing are supported by local and regional scholarships for applicants who meet the criteria. This position will include regular opportunities to cover annual leave and expert on the job training will be provided.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years recent acute nursing experience
  • Well-developed critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
  • Commitment to meeting the special needs of those undertaking cancer & medical infusion treatments
  • Proven ability to work in a cohesive and collaborative manner as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Cannulation and CVAD competencies desirable but mandatory to develop and maintain
  • Demonstrated self-directed learning in cancer care an advantage
  • Flexible approach, including willingness to adapt to a constantly changing environment
