The Contract: Ongoing, Part Time, 48.0 hours per fortnight

The Position:

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within our combined Medical and Surgical ward caring predominantly for patients with higher acuity care needs using critical care or advanced practice nursing skills.  Your skills will be respected as part of a small team of skilled professionals who are focussed on providing excellence in high acuity patient care.  The HDU consists of a 4 bed unit within the 34 bed Tambo ward. The unit provides care for a large spectrum of medical conditions and post-operative care and has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors.

What you need:

  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience in a recent acute medical/surgical setting
  • Accredited in ALS, IV cannulation and management of CVADS
  • Competence in high acuity acute medical and surgical nursing with a good understanding of and commitment to providing high quality and compassionate patient centred care.
  • Cardiac nursing experience with the capacity to interpret ECG's and manage acute cardiac patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage haemodynamic monitoring, such as arterial and central lines including central venous pressure monitoring.
