The Position:

In this role you will work as part of a large team within the BRHS Food Safety Plan and the Healthy Choices guidelines to ensure the provision of a first class food service to the hospital community.  It is essential that our cooks have a good understanding of the Food Safety Plan and the special dietary needs of patients and clients to ensure a high standard of food and beverage services are delivered.  Applicants require availability to work a range of shifts as required, across 7 days a week including public holidays.  Our casual staff members provide coverage to the food services team when staff are on planned and unplanned leave. 

The Department:

Our Food Services department produces and delivers a range of catering and food services that meet the needs of our patients, aged care residents, clients, visitors and staff.  In addition to our internal patient service, a cafeteria day service is provided to staff and visitors as well as catering for meetings/functions and participation in the local community meals on wheels program.

Criteria Required:

  • Trade Certificate in Cooking and Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Work experience in a commercial cooking environment
  • Knowledge and ability to cook and prepare meals for clients with special dietary requirements;
  • High level interpersonal skills with effective communication within a team based service environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and focus on customer service;
  • A flexible approach to tasks with the ability and willingness to learn and implement new recipes that are healthy and nutritious.
