Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

About the Role
Offered on a 6-month full-time basis, the Manager, Civil works in conjunction with the Principal Lawyer, Civil to manage the Civil arm of the Supreme Court of Victoria's Registry (Registry).
The role is responsible for the management of the administrative functions and general oversight of the registry officers of the arm of Registry which supports the Commercial Court, Common Law Division and Costs Court (Divisions) and administers the non-case related functions of the Prothonotary, exercising delegated powers of the Prothonotary as a Senior Deputy Prothonotary as required.
The Manager, Civil provides high level strategic, policy and procedural advice to the judiciary of the Divisions and works collaboratively with the Principal Lawyer in managing the team of Lawyers and Senior Lawyers within the Civil division.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leading and overseeing the Divisions' operations including case management, business planning, service delivery, staffing, leave management, performance reviews, resourcing, allocations, and budgets.
- Leading the Divisions in evaluating, designing and implementing workflow strategies for case management.
- Providing high level strategic, operational and organisational policy support to the judiciary, including reporting on statistics, trends and issues.
- Leading the development and implementation of projects both within the Divisions and court-wide, including developing briefs and undertaking legal project work.
- Consulting regularly with Court users and judiciary regarding service delivery including attending User Group meetings.

About You
- Tertiary qualifications in law and admitted to practice.
- Experience in managing people, facilitating change and/or integrating new technologies in the workplace, particularly within a legal court or tribunal environment is highly desirable.
