About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

CCV
The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.
There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the Role
You will significantly contribute to improving the overall efficiency of the Division by focusing on the active case management of personal injury matters in their pre trial stages. You will work within a team that supports the Division and is comprised of Division Lawyers, Registrars and self-represented litigant case managers. Your duties will include:
- proactively liaising with parties to ensure matters are ready to commence on the trial date
- triaging and analysing interlocutory issues and disputes
- engaging with parties to promote early resolution of the interlocutory disputes, without judicial intervention, where possible
- conducting mediations
- playing an active role in the development and implementation of practice and procedures within the Common Law Division
- working closely and collaboratively with the judges, in particular the Head of the Common Law Division, judicial registrars and the Common Law Regstiry.
About You
Applicants are required to be, or eligible to be, an Australian Legal Practitioner.
The ideal candidate will also have:
- post-admission experience in civil litigation with an interest in alternate dispute resolution
- knowledge and/or experience in common law, particularly in personal injury claims
- exceptional communication skills; both verbal and written
- ability to work flexibly as a part of a high performing team and within a dynamic environment
- highly developed problem solving skills with the ability to develop and evaluate solutions
- strong conceptual and organisational skills and knowledge
This is a part time (0.5FTE) position for a fixed term period.
