Position Details

This is a newly created role within the County Court that provides senior leadership across the Courts Judicial Support Services team to optimise and enhance the delivery of operational activities, services and functions. 

The County Court is Victoria's principal trial Court. The Court's purpose is to hear and determine matters in a fair, timely, efficient and accessible way. This is affirmed by Court Directions 2017- 2022 which articulates the seven most important objectives of the Court.  The judges of the Court are supported by approximately 240 staff that work in the areas of Registry, Judicial Support and Administration.

The purpose of the Judicial Support Services Team is to provide the judges of the Court with the necessary judicial services including the adequate numbers of trained and capable Associates and Tipstaves required for the effective operation of the Court. 

The team comprises of: the Judicial Staff Coordinators who provide support to judges in the day to day management of judicial staff resources and direct support to staff through pastoral care and performance management; the Senior Learning and Development Associate and Tipstaff who lead the learning and development teams providing expert advice and training to Associates and Tipstaves; and the Managing Associate List Courts who leads the List Associates team. 

Judicial Support Services roles operate within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgment, excellent organisational skills and high-level negotiation skills.  As a member of the Senior Operational Leadership Team, the Manager Judicial Support Services is responsible for leading Judicial Support Services and works collaboratively with other operational leads as they undertake reform within the Court and build capability in the system to deal with the demands of the future.
