Reporting to the Director Governance, People, Policy and Communications at the County Court and the Director Finance at Court Services Victoria, the Budget and Procurement Manager provides expert advice and services across the broad spectrum of accounting, budgetary and procurement services to the County Court in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994 (Act), Standing Directions under the Act and Court Services Victoria (CSV) or policies, procedures and guidelines.

Position Details

The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 11,000 criminal, common law and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder and related offences.

There are a total of 70 Judges of the Court and over 200 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

The Court Services Act 2014 and legislation establishing Victorian courts such as the County Court Act 1958 provide the statutory framework for independent and impartial administration of justice in the State of Victoria.

Reporting directly to the Director Governance, People, Policy and Communications & Director of Corporate Services, this role is an integral part of the Court's Corporate Services Leadership Team and leads the long-term financial strategy, budget and procurement function.
