About us

The County Koori Court (CKC) is an alternative way of administering sentences so that Court processes are more culturally accessible as well as acceptable and comprehensible to the Koori Community.  The key emphasis is on creating an informal atmosphere which allows for greater participation by the Koori Community through the Aboriginal Elders and Respected Persons, the Koori Court Officer, Koori defendants and their families in the court and sentencing process.  It aims to reduce perceptions of intimidation and cultural alienation experienced by Koori offenders.
