About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

CCV
The County Court of Victoria is established pursuant to the County Court Act 1958. It has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial cases each year. The County Court has unlimited monetary jurisdiction in common law and commercial matters. In its criminal jurisdiction, the Court hears all indictable offences except treason, murder, and related offences.
There are a total of 80 Judges of the Court and over 300 staff, including judicial support staff. The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings at 12 circuit courts situated in major centres throughout regional Victoria.

About the role
We are seeking to appoint an ongoing full-time Associate to support Her Honour Judge Ryan. Her Honour currently sits in the Court's Commercial Division and is the Judge in Charge of the Complex Cases List in that Division.
The County Court of Victoria has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in Victoria.
The Court hears over 11,000 criminal and civil cases each year.
Since 1 January 2007, the County Court has had an unlimited monetary jurisdiction in civil matters. The County Court has concurrent jurisdiction with the Supreme Court in almost all commercial litigation.
Following the removal of the monetary limit on the Court's jurisdiction and the appointment of additional judges with commercial expertise, the commercial work of the court has grown in both size and complexity. The work of the Commercial Division now constitutes approximately 45% of the court's civil jurisdiction.
About you
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
- A well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- the ability to exercise sound judgment
- good organisational and problem solving skills
- excellent computer literacy and administration experience
- a valid Australian State or Territory driver licence
- A law degree and/or experience in legal practice or an associated field is highly desirable
