The Commission is an independent statutory body established to promote continuous improvement and innovation in policies and practices relating to the safety and wellbeing of:
- Victorian children and young people generally, and
- Vulnerable children and young people in particular.
The Commission is committed to providing a child safe and child friendly environment, where children and young people with whom we have contact are safe and feel safe, and able to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives.
A core function of the Inquiries and Engagement team is to manage a broad range of Commission-initiated inquiries and investigations, inquiries initiated by the Minister and mandated child death inquiries. The team also monitors and reports on the implementation of inquiry recommendations.
A further function of the team is to develop and implement the Commission’s engagement framework to facilitate meaningful engagement with vulnerable children and young people, families, government departments and community organisations. The team also manages the independent visitors program in Victoria’s Youth Justice Centres.
Who are we looking for?
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Manager, Inquiries and Engagement is responsible for leading a large, diverse team and is critical to providing strategic oversight of the Commission’s inquiries and engagement functions.
You will have strong people management experience and have demonstrated experience in project management and/or inquiries/investigations. Further, you will have a sound understanding of inquiries methodology and have demonstrated expertise in creating opportunities for engagement with children and young people, including through the use of volunteers.
