Position Details

The Manager Regulatory Pressures is responsible for enhancing the way the VBA targets and delivers proactive regulatory activity across multiple disciplines. Managing a team of Analysts, this position takes the lead in forecasting, assessing and responding to emerging trends and challenges with the potential to impact the VBA's legislative, regulatory and technical environment.

Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, Regulatory Pressures and Research, the primary focus of this role is to develop sustainable solutions to address regulatory pressures and systemic issues across building, plumbing and construction industries.


 Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in management, engineering, building, plumbing, risk management, policy, research or related discipline.
  • Qualification in Regulation, Public administration or equivalent and experience working with statutory or representative committees highly regarded.
  • Experience in a similar role in a corporate, regulatory, government or similar environment, with comprehensive knowledge of contemporary modern regulatory theory and practice.
  • Sound understanding of the regulatory cycle and practical application of a range of statutory tools to facilitate effective regulatory design and practice.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify emerging trends and systemic issues, develop high impact responses and position an organisation to take a proactive approach to addressing regulatory pressures.  
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience facilitating cross-organisational approaches to regulatory practice problem solving.

Salary Details

Salary package Grade 6 in the range of $113,156 - $151,426 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
