About Us:
The Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV) is an inquisitorial jurisdiction. Its role is to conduct an independent investigation into reportable deaths and fires, for the purpose of finding the cause of those deaths and fires. By its work, the CCOV contributes to the reduction of the number of preventable deaths and fires, the promotion of public health and safety and the administration of justice.
Having determined that a death is either a reportable or reviewable death , the coroner's investigation seeks to establish the facts to ascertain, if possible, the identity of the person who died, the medical cause of death and the circumstances in which the death occurred.
CSV embraces diversity amongst our staff and we welcome applications from people from all cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, as well as people with a disability.

About the Role:

The Senior Legal Officer (Family Violence) provides high-level legal assistance and support to Coroners and the Victorian Systemic Review of Family Violence Deaths (VSRFVD) in the investigation of family violence-related deaths.
The role is also required to work in consultation with all Coroners, the Coroners Support Services, the Coroners Prevention Unit and all other CCOV business units, to build and retain relevant knowledge and expertise, related to deaths resulting from family violence.
