Position Details

  • Shape budgets that support safer communities across Victoria.
  • Lead key finance work that guides major public decisions.
  • Work with senior leaders on complex and meaningful priorities.
  • Build a strong team and improve how finance supports services.
  • Fixed-term, full-time role until 1st December 2027, earning 138,631 - $185,518 per year, plus super.

What you will do

As Budget and Finance Manager, you will lead key finance and budget work across the department.

You will guide planning, give advice and support strong financial outcomes.

You will:

  • deliver accurate budget planning and financial processes for business units
  • provide clear financial advice to senior leaders and help shape budget outcomes
  • complete complex analysis that supports strong and timely decisions
  • prepare high quality briefs for executives and ministers
  • lead a collaborative team and improve systems and processes.

About you

You hold strong experience in finance and budget management. A CPA or CA is desirable.

You bring deep knowledge of public sector finance and government processes.

You should also have:

  • strong financial expertise across budgeting and accounting
  • advanced data skills and ability to build complex models
  • sharp critical thinking to solve problems across government
  • proven leadership and ability to guide teams and influence others.
