An exciting opportunity exists for a Manager - Specialist Response on an ongoing basis in the Electronic Monitoring Program within Security and Intelligence Division, Corrections Victoria.

About Us

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's corrections system, which incorporates prisons and Community Correctional Services. As a service agency within the Department of Justice & Regulation, Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Corrections Victoria manages approximately 59 Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria's eleven public prisons, and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of three privately operated prisons. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders and the community to promote positive behaviour change.

Corrections Victoria's Electronic Monitoring Program is a business unit within the Security & Intelligence Division. The Electronic Monitoring Program maintains oversight of the state-wide program and management of the Electronic Monitoring Centre.

About the Role

The Manager - Specialist Response provides high-level quality and authoritative advice to the Specialist Response Unit regarding various electronic monitoring options for serious sex offenders on post-sentence supervision, and Community Correctional Services regarding all other offenders on electronic monitoring. As Electronic Monitoring moves to a consolidated contract for its Electronic Monitoring services, the Manager - Specialist Response will play a role in aiding the role out of the contract across the state while also being responsible for the tasking and co-ordination and quality assurance of electronic monitoring information reports for offenders on electronic monitoring.

The role requires close collaboration with the Manager - Electronic Monitoring Centre, and regular interface with various stakeholders including but not limited to the Specialist Response Unit, Victoria Police, Post Sentence Branch, Adult Parole Board and Community Correctional Services.

As our ideal candidate, you will be required to demonstrate:

  • Practical knowledge and understanding of current and emerging issues in the management of offenders 
  • Broad undertaking of the challenges of managing various stakeholders within a complex environment
  • Significant experience in developing high level writing in a government setting.

The role may require some travel to the Electronic Monitoring Centre (Ravenhall), transitional facilities and other regional locations as well as participation in afterhours on call (approximately one week in five).
