The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Assurance Officer to provide a critical role within CV Contracts and Infrastructure.
About the Business Unit
Ravenhall Correctional Centre is a privately run 1300 bed medium security facility for sentenced and remand persons in custody with 75 dedicated forensic mental health beds.
The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch are responsible for contract management, commercial oversight and advisory services, as well as the effective management and maintenance of all Corrections Victoria's prison and related infrastructure.
About the Role
Reporting to the Contract Manager, the Senior Assurance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring operator accountability for operations across Ravenhall Correctional Centre, working in partnership with the private prison contract management teams. The Senior Assurance Officer will provide advice to the Contract Manager and General Manager on operations and service delivery performance at the private prisons, according to contractual requirements.
Based primarily at Ravenhall Correctional Centre, with regular attendance at the Melbourne office, 50 Franklin Street, the Senior Assurance Officer provides subject matter expertise in relation to private prison operations, service delivery and performance.
In addition to office-based duties, this role is predominantly undertaken on-site at prison locations and may involve overnight travel. The role requires attendance at prisons at least three days per week to fulfil performance monitoring obligations and foster strong relationships with prison operational staff.
The successful incumbent will be required to undertake regular operational shifts to maintain their Correctional Officer Grade (COG) rank.
It may be a requirement of this position to work weekends, which will be remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024.
Some of your duties will include:
- Independently review and analyse incidents, assessing compliance with legislation, policy and operational procedures, and identifying root causes, systemic issues and emerging risks.
- Plan and coordinate complex incident reviews, providing clear, evidence-based advice and assurance to support accountability, risk mitigation and service improvement.
- Contribute to the management of Corrections Victoria's obligations by providing advice on prison operations, performance and compliance with contractual, legislative, policy and procedural requirements.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An understanding of contemporary prisoner management, correctional practices and sound knowledge of prison operations within Corrections Victoria.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software.
Qualifications/requirements
- A full and current Victorian driver's licence or a minimum P2 driver's licence.
- Preservice training (or jurisdictional equivalent) or the preparedness to complete certain modules of the preservice training
