What does the business unit do?

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.

Data, Digital and Insights (DDI) focuses on meeting the departments data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. The specialist groups within DDI consist of Technology Solutions and Evidence and Insights.

Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to enable the department's business to function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products, and services.

Evidence and Insights is responsible for providing end-to-end evidence-based policy support to the Department of Justice and Community Safety, and the reporting of data and research to the Victorian public through the Crime Statistics Agency and the National Coronial Information System.

Salesforce is a strategic platform within the department with business units investing in Salesforce products to deliver services to Victorian communities. 

Technology Solutions, as the provider of IT services and solutions, has established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to provide ongoing support to these Salesforce products and ensure platform integrity and security. Furthermore, the CoE will provides advice and expertise to identify opportunities for further growth and investment in the platforms so they can continue to realise value.

What will the role do?

The Salesforce Developer will be primarily responsible for:

  • Developing a range of Salesforce solutions that enables DJCS to deliver critical services to the broader Victorian community.
  • Becoming an integral part of a growing Salesforce Centre of Excellence (CoE) by partnering with clients and helping them maximise their investments.
  • Supporting and enhancing existing Salesforce platforms within the department, designing solutions for new and upcoming projects, and leveraging their industry expertise and knowledge in shaping the CoE.

What skills should a Salesforce Developer have?

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience within a large ICT environment, of Software Development practice, leading to successful ICT improvement or transformation creating realised business value.
  • Demonstrated experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS) and OmniStudio (previously Vlocity) components such as OmniScript, DataRaptor, Integration Procedure, and FlexCards.
  • Experience in Workflows, process builders, flows, basic Apex, Validation Rules, Sharing & Security etc.
  • Lightning & LWC experience would be highly regarded
  • Experience working on Salesforce interfaces (Lightning and Classic), Apex, Add-ons and integration using MuleSoft and Salesforce connectors (as required)
  • Experience as a developer, including using Object oriented programming practices, Data management and modelling, AMPscript / Server Side JavaScript (SSJS), HTML/CSS, Cloud SOAP and REST APIs, Integrations with web CMS, Custom reports, Dynamic email personalisation.
  • Deep understanding of SDLC principles and the software development lifecycle, including Agile and DevOps practices and methodologies
  • Experience working on Atlassian DevOps toolset (Jira, Bitbucket/ SourceTree) and VS Code to manage applications/ product lifecycle. Experience in engaging, collaborating, and negotiating solution architecture and design with platform architects.
  • Salesforce OmniStudio Consultant and OmniStudio Developer Certifications are highly desirable.
  • Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Appropriate vocation qualifications and certifications e.g., Agile, Software Platforms, Cloud, Service Management or Change Management are highly desirable.
