  • VPS Grade 5: $103,920 - $125,735 plus superannuation.


About the Business Unit

Redress Design and Delivery is responsible for developing and implementing redress schemes that acknowledge past harm, provide a range of support options for individuals who have experienced harm, and operate independently from the organisation responsible for causing the harm. It provides high-quality strategic policy advice, makes recommendations to government for new scheme design and operational models, and is responsible for administration and delivery of frontline services.

Redress Design and Delivery has six key areas: an Executive Office, Operations and Strategy, Support Services, Assessments, Restorative Engagement and an area dedicated to new Scheme Design. The Scheme Design area is a specialist team responsible for developing policy parameters and key components for specific redress schemes.


About the Role

This role will initially focus on the newly opened Fiskville Redress Scheme, which acknowledges past harm and supports people who were exposed to toxic substances and impacted by activities at the former Fiskville Training College when it operated as the CFA's main training centre between 1971 and 2015. Knowledge and experience in occupational and environmental health will be very highly regarded.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Assesses applications to determine eligibility for redress, including financial and non-financial redress, in accordance with the schemes' key parameters and Assessment Guidelines
  • Provides policy and research advice to Senior Manager, Assessments
  • Maintain and enhance practice consistency with a focus on continuous improvement.


About You

  • Ability to analyse and critically evaluate complex information to establish a strong written evidentiary basis for an assessed recommendation.
  • Demonstrated policy development/research capability, including the ability to apply legislation and principles associated with occupational and environmental health, equal opportunity, social policy, criminal justice.


  • A qualification or relevant experience in one or more of the following areas is essential:  law, occupational and environmental health, environmental science, equal opportunity, social policy.

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its employees consistent with the department's obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic). Therefore, there is a requirement that all DJCS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes.

At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

Acceptable evidence includes:

  • COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
  • Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
