Position Details

  • Utilise your project management expertise to provide support and advice to the Community Safety Building Authority
  • A fixed-term, full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service for 3 years
  • VPS Grade 6: $138,631 - $185,518 plus superannuation.

The Fire Services team have a full-time vacancy for a Senior Project Manager for a 3-year fix-term commencing mid-late March 2026 (specific dates to be confirmed dependent on candidate availability).

About the Role:

A Senior Project Manager (Fire Services) is responsible for leading and delivering projects successfully, including managing project initiation, design, procurement and construction activities. The SPM will manage the project's effective implementation through leading a team and managing consultants and contractors, while ensuring active engagement with project stakeholders.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Leading the delivery of agreed developments/construction projects in line with defined time, cost, scope, quality, and communication requirements, including whole of government policies and complying with project lifecycle guidelines including business case templates
  • Implementing and utilising appropriate project management controls in line with the department's project management excellence (PME) framework and proactively identify and manage project risks and issues
  • Preparing project status reporting and facilitate timely informed decision making on key project issues by stakeholders and project governance committees, appropriately escalating risks and issues to senior management and executives as required.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated project management experience in building, construction, or infrastructure delivery
  • An appropriate qualification in engineering, civil construction, architecture, project management or proven track record of equivalent experience
