The Group
Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) supports the Attorney-General and the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) Ministers by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise to DJCS and Justice Ministers. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy and legislation reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people centred.
The Business Unit
Integrity Policy and Performance supports the Attorney General in her role as the First Law Officer and Minister responsible for Victoria's justice and integrity system, provides whole-of-Victorian-government policy leadership on integrity and oversight, privacy and information sharing issues, and supports the operation of integrity agencies within the Victorian Government. The Unit facilitates delivery of broader government priorities as required, including reform proposal to address worker harm.
About the Role
Working within a highly supportive and collaborative environment, the Legal Policy and Project Officer will have the opportunity to develop their legal policy skills and contribute to the development of high quality, evidence based legal policy advice on priority legislative reform projects and will work flexibly to support a range of areas that are within the responsibilities of Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services Division (IRLS). Ongoing projects currently led by Integrity Policy and Performance in IRLS include reform proposals to address worker harm, police oversight and public sector integrity policy spaces as well as supporting the implementation of key recommendations arising from integrity agency reports, inquiries and commissions.
Some of your other duties will include:
- Acting as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identifying, managing and escalating risks and issues as they arise.
- Working flexibly across the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services group.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of and/or experience of law or policy development.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government administrative processes would be advantageous.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in law, public policy or related studies is desirable.
