  • A Fixed-Term, Full-Time opportunity until 30/06/2027 to work with a high-performing and passionate team
  • VPS Grade 4: $97,955 - $111,142 plus superannuation.

About the Business Unit:

Integrity Policy and Performance supports the Attorney General in her role as the First Law Officer and Minister responsible for Victoria's justice and integrity system, provides whole-of-Victorian-government policy leadership on integrity and oversight, privacy and information sharing issues, and supports the operation of integrity agencies within the Victorian Government. The Unit facilitates delivery of broader government priorities as required, including reform proposal to address worker harm.

About the Role:

The Legal Policy Officer will assist with the development of reforms and the provision of high-quality evidence-based policy advice on priority legislative reform projects and will work flexibly to support a range of areas that are within the responsibilities of IRLS. Ongoing projects currently led by Integrity Policy and Performance in Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services Division include reform proposals to address worker harm, police oversight and public sector integrity policy spaces as well as supporting the implementation of key recommendations arising from integrity agency reports, inquiries and commissions.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Assising  with the development and the delivery of legislation and regulations including drafting Cabinet submissions and Ministerial briefings, drafting instructions for Bills, regulations and legal instruments, and support for Parliamentary debate
  • Delivering high-quality and authoritative written materials including solutions-focused policy papers, reports, briefings and presentations on policy and legislative issues and options for senior management, departmental executives, government and other key stakeholders
  • Undertaking research and providing insightful policy analysis and advice, including the identification of emerging issues, opportunities, risks and trends impacting on the achievement of key government initiatives.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Knowledge of and/or experience of law, particularly criminal or administrative law, criminology or social policy
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government administrative processes would be advantageous.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in law, policy or criminology and/or equivalent experience is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian Government administrative processes would be advantageous.
