About Us:

The Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 commits to the ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030. It also seeks to reduce the incidence of serious injury resulting from road crashes. The Road Safety manages Victoria's road safety camera network and is a representative for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) in Victoria's road safety partnership.

Road Safety contributes to this partnership in the operation of road safety cameras, and the policy and strategic directions of the broader road safety enforcement. Road Safety is accountable to the Minister for Police and the Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner.

About the Role:

As the Senior Specialist, you will play a key leadership role within the Road Safety Camera Program, providing advice and oversight on project related compliance activities and the implementation of enforcement initiatives. You will be required to support the delivery of projects involving new road safety camera technology/functionality, ensure compliance with technical standards, and manage the assessment and approval processes for new road safety camera systems.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Leading risk management and quality control initiatives for regulated systems, ensuring alignment with department standards and community expectations.
  • Coordinating the resolution of compliance and operational issues across the initiatives being implemented.
  • Providing expert advice to senior executives, policy makers, and project stakeholders on system functionality, regulatory matters, and operational risk.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading compliance programs or regulatory operations within a technical or road safety enforcement setting.
  • Proven project management experience, including successful delivery of infrastructure, regulatory, or ICT projects in government or regulated industries.
  • A strong understanding of legislative and technical standards, with experience interpreting and applying them in operational environments.
