Position Details
- Utilise your project delivery expertise to provide support and advice to the Road Safety program
- A fixed term, full time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service until 30th June 2029
- VPS Grade 6: $138,631 - $185,518 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:
The Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 commits to the ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030. It also seeks to reduce the incidence of serious injury resulting from road crashes.
The Road Safety manages Victoria's road safety camera network and is a representative for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) in Victoria's road safety partnership. Road Safety contributes to this partnership in the operation of road safety cameras, and the policy and strategic directions of the broader road safety enforcement. Road Safety is accountable to the Minister for Police and the Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner.
About the Role:
The Senior Project Manager is an integral senior member of Road Safety and will lead and deliver on Road Safety project's and provide expertise in the procurement and project management of capital projects. The Senior Project Manager will be skilful in working in a technical and outsourced environment, with experience in managing; a variety of stakeholder groups, third party providers and their associated documentation. Significant project management expertise is required throughout the delivery cycle. The ability to proactively develop and maintain effective relationship with key stakeholders, influence and negotiate, and lead a small project team, will be crucial to this role.
Some of your duties will include:
- Leading the procurement processes and engage consultants for project delivery
- Defining and running technology trials and demonstrations.
- Leading and actively managing scheduling, budgeting, risk and issues.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Extensive experience in procurement of outsourced products and services including customised development in a government or large organisation environment
- A wealth of experience in the implementation of technology and service delivery systems or equivalent within blended project teams including third party contractors and/or consultants
- A strong ability in project management and the development and delivery of plans, schedules, project artefacts and other outputs from blended project teams for procurement of products and services in an outsourced environment
- Thorough knowledge of, and relevant experience with Project Management methodologies for example PRINCE2, Agile or other project management frameworks.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification is desirable
- Relevant project management experience is highly desirable
- Membership of a professional Project Management body (i.e., AIPM, PMI) is desirable
