Position Details
About the Role
This is a fixed term Data Analyst role (up to 12-months) that sits within the Workforce Strategy team in WPP. The Workforce Strategy team is responsible for the development of the kindergarten workforce strategy, including research and analysis of attraction and retention challenges, and identification of short- and long-term opportunities for reform. The team also advises on intergovernmental relations and activity relating to the early childhood workforce.

Attributes
The successful applicant will play a key role in contributing to the branch's priorities by:
- undertaking data analysis to understand key trends in workforce supply and quality, and the impacts of existing policies and programs
- translating workforce data insights into strategic policy, including developing slide decks or contributing analysis to briefings, reports or cabinet submissions
- engaging with internal and external stakeholders, including our internal modelling team
- providing high quality and timely written and verbal advice to senior decision makers
- contributing to key policy projects that build the evidence base and deliver on key initiatives in the 2023 BSBL Workforce Strategy
- being an integral part of a high-performing and collaborative team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
This role requires experience in applying conceptual and analytical skills, including to analyse and interrogate data to understand policy implications, and effectively using data insights and other evidence to shape policy and strategic decision-making. Relevant university qualifications will be highly regarded.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Workforce Policy and Programs (WPP) Branch leads on the implementation of key early childhood workforce strategy, projects and programs that support the implementation of the Best Start, Best Life reforms. The branch has a particular focus on increasing early childhood teacher and educator supply. The work of the branch is built on a strong foundation of collaboration with all relevant internal stakeholders and the key external stakeholders with whom we are partnering to successfully deliver these policies and programs.
