Position Details
About the Role
Multiple positions available until 01 December 2028.
The Department is seeking two experienced Project Managers for two-year fixed-term positions supporting key digital transformation initiatives within IMTD. One position will support the Securing Connected Learners (SCL) program, and the other will support the Student Insight (SI) initiative.
Student Insight is transforming student administration through a digital platform that aims to create a single, secure and longitudinal record for each student, placing the student at the centre of their journey from Kindergarten to Year 12. The SCL program supports the Department's broader digital education objectives.
As Project Manager, you will lead project governance, business stakeholder engagement, project controls and delivery coordination. You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, technical delivery teams and other stakeholders to support effective decision-making and the achievement of agreed project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include coordinating governance forums, monitoring project progress and delivery commitments, managing risks, issues and dependencies, preparing executive reporting and governance materials, and facilitating the resolution of complex stakeholder and delivery issues.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will maintain alignment between business priorities and delivery activities, promote clear accountability and transparent reporting, and support delivery within agreed scope, timeframes, budget and quality requirements.
Attributes
The successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong project management skills, including experience in project governance, planning, controls, risk management and delivery coordination.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior executives, business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- The ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage competing priorities and facilitate resolution of complex issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
- Experience preparing executive reports, governance papers, project updates and other materials that support informed decision-making.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with a commitment to accountability, continuous improvement and effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Victorian Public Sector Values of Responsiveness, Integrity, Impartiality, Accountability, Respect, Leadership and Human Rights.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Relevant qualifications in project management, business administration, information technology or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Experience managing complex digital transformation initiatives, particularly within government or large, multi-stakeholder environments, would be highly regarded. Experience coordinating business and technical delivery streams, supporting governance forums and managing project risks and dependencies would also be beneficial.
