About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The department is seeking a Security Assurance Manager to ensure security obligations are effectively implemented to enable the successful delivery of information technology strategic and operational plans.
The Security Assurance unit defines and governs the progress of audit and assurance according to standards and policies. The unit reports the Chief Information Security Officer and collaborates with the department's Integrity, Assurance and Executive Services Division in fulfilling 2nd line governance responsibilities and obligations. It includes organising and coordinating performance reporting to the oversight risk committee.
About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that the audit framework supports 2nd line audit review procedures and governance. Responsibilities for the role include:
- Establishing an audit framework in support of 2nd line audit and review procedures;
- Managing a team of direct reports to oversee a calendar of assurance activities;
- Work closely with the Assurance division in alignment with their framework and procedures to ensure alignment;
- Prepare formal findings reports and briefings to communicate progress, exceptions and recommendations;
- Evaluate and develop assurance reviews in support of new programs and evolving solutions.
Attributes
The Security Assurance Manager is a subject matter expert in audit and assurance who can demonstrate an ability to develop frameworks and provide insights on the effective performance of controls. As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- Proven experience selecting and implementing appropriate frameworks and developing assurance processes and procedures to support a comprehensive audit program;
- Leadership experience overseeing a team of analysts responsible for assurance and reporting;
- Experience establishing processes and capability to periodically systematically monitor assurance in alignment with information security standards;
- Experience providing audit reports to stakeholders on findings and progress of assurance reviews to steering committees;
- Consulting experience in this or similar roles that support continuous improvement advisory.
