Position Details
About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
Procurement Division supports the department's core functions and strategic priorities by ensuring excellence in goods and services procurement practices in both the department and in Victorian government schools.
The Corporate Procurement Branch supports and advises on goods and services procurements undertaken by business areas across the department. Under a centre-led procurement model, Corporate Procurement sourcing teams undertake procurement planning and strategy development, as well as leading significant sourcing activities end-to-end. The Branch is also responsible for the establishment of the department's goods and services procurement framework and suite of documentation and processes; delivery of procurement training to corporate staff; implementation of Victorian Government procurement reforms and policies alongside continuous improvement; administration of digital procurement platforms; secretariat services for the department's Procurement and Probity Committee; and a range of corporate compliance and reporting functions.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Corporate Procurement's Governance and Systems Team and to demonstrate your strong procurement policy expertise and governance experience.
The Senior Procurement Governance Specialist will:
- provide procurement policy and governance expertise and advice to a range of internal stakeholders that aligns with best practice application of procurement and Department policies, processes and systems;
- support the continuous improvement of the department's corporate procurement framework, including the introduction of new Victorian Government policy requirements and processes as well as iterative changes arising from internal feedback and analysis;
- actively contribute to the development and maintenance of the branch's library of templates and support documentation, including intranet guidance;
- provide one-on-one and small group education sessions to branch colleagues, to build shared knowledge and support change management;
- actively contribute to the department's scheduled and ad hoc reporting activities, building strong familiarity with data holdings and working with the team's analyst to efficiently extract key metrics and produce timely and impactful reports;
- actively contribute to strategic activities that explore opportunities in developing spaces, like the application of artificial intelligence in procurement;
- deputise for the Manager, Governance and Systems, on the administration of the division's business planning and risk management activities;
- undertake duties as required for other procurement-related matters.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in a related field is a pre-requisite.
- 4+ years working in a procurement environment and/or a relevant government policy environment.
- Familiarity with the Victorian Government goods and services procurement context (e.g., awareness of the Victorian Government Purchasing Board and its supply policies) is highly desirable.
