About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Role
The Senior Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in leading school funding policy reform which includes the policy rational, design, delivery and continuous enhancement of school funding models. In this role, you will work collegiately with a team of experienced Data Analysts, guided by the Funding Reform Manager to implement school funding policy and reforms. The role requires significant engagement with stakeholders across the Department of Education to embed sound funding policy rationale into evidence based economic modelling outputs informing the design of school funding models.
Main Accountabilities:
- Lead on the design, development and delivery of core funding reform projects.
- Lead the continuous improvement of school funding policy, frameworks and modelling design across the Department of Education, acting as a technical expert within the organisation.
- Work with the Manager Funding Reform, to set the strategic direction for school funding reform.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, providing high quality advice that support policy setting for school funding reform in Victoria and maximise the impact of the teams analytical products.

About the Team
The position of Senior Data Analyst resides in the Funding Reform Unit in the Budget Strategy and Funding Reform Branch. The key role of the Funding Reform Unit is to deliver cutting edge advice on school funding reform. It's program of works includes:
- Developing high quality funding models, backed by evidence for Victorian Government Schools.
- Reviewing existing funding and making recommendations for reform as part of a continuous improvement cycle.
- Providing key strategic advice on funding policy and the design of funding models.
- Developing analytical products that inform decision making on the strategic direction for funding reform.
