About the Division
The Information Management and Technology Division (IMTD) oversees the department's digital capabilities, spearheading the digital transformation for both the department and Victorian government schools. They manage Victoria's largest technology network, supporting around 750,000 staff and students. IMTD leverages cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and agile practices to enhance user experience, security, and integration.
About the Role
The purpose of the Senior Administration Adviser (Reporting Analyst) position is to support the School Digital Services team by providing the single point for all service performance reporting for the branch and analysing usage and performance data to provide insights into school usage of digital services.
They lead strategy development across administrative operations. This role requires a deep understanding of the department, as well as providing valuable insights or recommendations to support the departments strategic vision.
The key accountabilities include:
- developing and maintaining a repository of technical data on school usage and service performance that can be used to support reporting, business cases etc.
- developing and maintaining a set of agreed reports that provide insight into the service performance of School Digital services.
- providing regular and ad hoc service performance reports that not only report the data but include commentary on trends, special cause events and other advice that allows the data to be understood.
- working with Business Service Catalogue Manager to ensure the service catalogue is supported with appropriate reporting and analytics to allow the School Digital Service branch to maintain effective and efficient services that meet the needs of schools.
- analysing school usage and performance data to provide insights to the School Digital Services and shared technology platforms teams for improving service performance or delivery.

The Senior Administration Adviser plays a central role in policy design and development, crafting strategies that have a tangible impact on education. An understanding of the political and organisational context is vital, as they engage with a diverse array of stakeholders and navigate complex political dynamics. The ability to communicate is equally essential to effectively convey insights and recommendations that drive change within the education sector.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Expertise in the formulation of basic data model or algorithms would be advantageous
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Tertiary qualifications/accreditations in a related discipline would be advantageous
