About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
The Information Management and Technology Division (IMTD) guides the departments' digital capability and is leading digital transformation for the department including Victorian government schools. The Division architects, manages and supports the largest technology network in Victoria, supporting a user base of approximately 750,000 staff and students.
IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration.
About the Role
The Technology Manager (Quality Assurance Automation) plays a critical role in driving the adoption of automation to improve software quality, increase efficiency, and accelerate the delivery of reliable software products.
This includes:
- provision of technical leadership in the establishment and ongoing management of automation capabilities for end-to-end testing across enterprise platforms;
- leading the implementation of methods and tools that will enable the department to manage all aspects of quality management, including planning, release, assurance, control, automation and improvement

Additionally, they lead with a forward-thinking vision, showcasing expertise in business acumen, digital literacy, stakeholder management, people leadership, knowledge management, business continuity, and capability development across the department.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Possess specific hands-on experience in developing and managing automation frameworks for testing. They should have a proven track record in establishing guidelines, practices, and protocols to streamline automation, minimizing maintenance efforts and associated costs. The candidate should also demonstrate experience in integrating automation testing frameworks with agile product development methodologies at an enterprise level. Tertiary qualifications or accreditations in a related discipline would be beneficial.
- Specific experience in the development and management of automation frameworks for testing including technical, hands-on experience.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing guidelines, practices, and protocols for automation to reduce maintenance efforts and avoid the costs associated with creating test automation scripts.
- Demonstrated experience in assimilating automation testing frameworks with agile product development methodologies at an enterprise level.
- Tertiary qualifications/accreditations in a related discipline would be advantageous.
