Position Details
This is a 13-month fixed-term opportunity - ending in August 2027.
The role is flexible. When onsite you will be based at 2 Treasury Place, East Melbourne.
About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division (AKESD) provides expert advice and support to the department through a range of portfolio, advisory and assurance services, including:
- Internal audit, VAGO audits, School Council Financial Assurance program
- Cabinet and Parliament support, including board appointments
- Freedom of Information
- briefings and correspondence support
- the Departmental Liaison Unit
- privacy advice and support
- records and digital content management, SharePoint and copyright advice and support
- mail services
The Knowledge Privacy and Records Branch within AKESD is responsible for leading the department's management of corporate knowledge, privacy, intellectual property, and records. This accountability includes leading and supporting departmental compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
About the Role
Your typical duties will include:
- Assisting a variety of customers and carrying out timely and high-quality activities in response to requests for access to the department's records
- Providing authoritative advice on records management requirements and processes consistent with departmental policy and related guidelines
- Maintaining (and conducting quality assurance) of catalogues and databases of the department's records
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the department's records management processes and documenting these processes
The successful candidate will:
- Thrive in a busy and dynamic team environment while applying critical thinking skills
- Be able to undertake complex records discovery within defined timelines
- Be resilient and professional handling sensitive requests relating to claims and applications from the National Redress Scheme
- Enjoy applying records and archives knowledge
- Provide excellent customer service and build strong stakeholder relationships.
- Have well developed written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- 2+ years of experience in managing public records in complex organisation
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in Records Management
