Position Details
About the Role
The Employee Mental Health Reform team is seeking a Senior Data and Program Analyst to join a small dynamic team who are passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing outcomes for school staff.
This is a fixed term full-time opportunity until 30 June 2028.
The successful candidate will lead the provision of a comprehensive package of supports including data utilisation, reporting and supporting evidence-based outcomes. This will include developing data dashboards for presentation to senior managers and executives and making data accessible and engaging for range of stakeholders. The role will also involve identifying and addressing evolving data and evidence needs to enhance effectiveness and strategic decision-making. The role would suit someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and displays initiative and commitment. Candidates must address the key selection criteria to be considered for this position.
The Senior Data and Program Analyst will work with qualitative and quantitative data to report effectively and to measure impact and generate insights that enable informed decision-making to prevent and mitigate risks and improve mental health and wellbeing.
This role requires:
- the ability to analyse data from a variety of sources (includes administrative and survey data) to measure outcomes and create actionable insights
- sound data literacy and the ability to maintain strong data governance
- strong communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders to enable data provisioning, requirements gathering and the creation of metrics and KPIs as well as updating Power BI reports and dashboards
- the ability to communicate insights through written analysis on reports, written briefs and options papers to enable effective decision-making
- the ability to undertake analysis to identify and contribute to the development of policies to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of employees
- stakeholder management skills including the ability to consult, coordinate, negotiate and influence key stakeholders and provide advice to central and regional teams.
- ability to use R for coding and analysis of large data sets and high level of proficiency in Excel
Desirable
- Good working knowledge of workers compensation data sets

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in data acquisition or analysis, mathematics, and/or business analysis.
- Understanding of government, particularly within the education-sector or other related field.
- Demonstrated skills and experience with undertaking data and statistical analysis using data analytics tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
