About the role
The Senior Climate Adaptation Officer will:
- Coordinate the development, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of five-yearly Education and Training Climate Change Adaptation Action Plans.
- Work closely with corporate staff across the department to develop and deliver evidence-based policies, strategies and actions to adapt and build resilience to climate change, and manage climate-related risks.
- Provide technical expertise in climate adaptation and build the capacity of staff to embed sustainability in their work.
- Coordinate with other government departments, external consultants and researchers to share skills, deliver partnership projects and support the department to meet its obligations to consider climate change in decision-making.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will:
- have professional experience in developing and delivering policies, programs and projects related to climate adaptation
- enjoy collaborating with others and have excellent stakeholder and interpersonal skills
- demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
- proactively analyse complex problems and seek creative and evidence-based solutions.
