About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
The Planning, Risk and Non-Government Schools Division delivers a high-level strategic management and service support function for the department that encompasses engagement with non-government schools, risk management, business continuity, planning, reporting and project management. This includes leading the development of the department's Strategic Plan and Annual Report.
About the Role
The Manager Strategy and Planning plays a central part in shaping the long-term vision of the department, as well as its overarching objectives. The successful applicant will lead the development and refinement of the department's 4‑year strategic plan and associated activities to support execution of the plan across the department. Specifically, the role leads a team responsible for:
- coordinating the department's business planning process, including facilitation of planning workshopsdeveloping and improving the department's Business Planning Framework and Corporate Management Framework
- providing expert advice on complex issues in relation to planning best practice and related obligations
- supporting frameworks and processes with associated reporting, tools, systems, guidelines, and training
- providing high-quality analysis, reports, papers, presentations, and briefings within agreed timelines
- identifying and overseeing implementation of projects to improve planning products and processes.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in strategic and/or business planning in the public sector or in a large organisation, including ability to develop and build capability within an organisation.
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
