This is a AH4, 0.4 FTE, fixed-term position in the Hume Merri-bek Area from 1.1.26 until 31.12.26. This position is currently based with the Hume North Student Support Services team.
About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Team Leader to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals in the delivery of Student Support Services across schools in the Hume Merri-bek Area.
Student Support Services help children and young people overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential. Staff collaborate with schools, students and families to improve learning, engagement, wellbeing, and inclusion through targeted strategies and specialised support. They build teacher capability, guide principals on wellbeing and learning approaches, and manage assessments and interventions for complex cases. Working in multidisciplinary Area-based teams — including psychologists, speech pathologists, and social workers — they support individuals, groups and school communities.
The successful applicant will:
- drive the implementation of evidence-based initiatives and multi-tiered systems of support across schools in collaboration with the Area and Divisional teams
- address barriers impacting student learning, engagement, wellbeing and inclusion
- contribute to the wider-Area approach of building the capability of schools
- provide professional guidance and advice to school and Area leadership, as well as team members
- provide supervision and mentoring that supports the work of others
- coordinate emergency management and critical incident response across schools and school communities
- manage a small caseload of complex cases
- engage with community service organisations and other professionals
