About the Department
The Department of Education support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
This role is located in the Wellbeing and Engagement Branch, Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division, South East Victoria Region, SRS. The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division works closely with education area teams and key central office program areas to promote and support regional and statewide consistency and lead professional practice and coordination across the region relating to:
- School services and support
- Student health, wellbeing and engagement support
The Division includes a team of professionals who:
- Provide coordination and oversight of the delivery of services that support the health, wellbeing and engagement of children and young people, particularly the vulnerable, to enable them to learn and develop to their full potential.
- Support services, where appropriate, to improve the wellbeing, learning and development outcomes of the children, young people and adult learners who use their services
- Ensure strong service provision across the region.
About the Role
The role of Behaviour Coach is to support the Department's goal of building the capability and skills of regional teams to use behavioural science to support students with complex behaviours of concern.
The Behaviour Coach will report to the Wellbeing and Engagement Manager and frequently liaise with their Region's Senior Regional Behavioural Analyst (SRBA), Area, Divisional and Central teams. The Behaviour Coach will support their Region and SRBA through coaching and training of SSS and school teams and work directly with schools as they work with students with behaviour support needs. This may involve the following:
- Contribution to the SEVR Behaviour Strategy
- Facilitation of and participation in workshops, webinars and project meetings
- Coaching and support to school and Regional staff on using behavioural science methodology to conduct behaviour focused assessments and develop behaviour support plans for students
- Support the facilitation of the Inclusive Classrooms (Supporting Student Behaviour) online professional learning course
- Provide recommendations that are contextually relevant to support students within their school community
- Provide on-site coaching and feedback for school teams and Student Support Services
- Contribute to weekly Intake Consultation Group meetings to support resource planning
- Work in collaboration with other regional staff to support understanding and implementation of Tier 1 and 2 behaviour support strategies
- Support evidence-based decision making through providing assistance with relevant data collection, including monitoring and evaluation protocols
- Liaise with and connect key Area and Regional staff to contribute to the strategic planning of Behaviour Coaching support for long term outcomes of Regional Behaviour Support.
The Behaviour Coach will be required to travel as needed within their Region in undertaking these tasks: this may involve overnight travel.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Essential :
- Experience working within Australian school systems
- Higher Education coursework and training in Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Registration with or eligible for membership with professional body
- Registration from Current Working With Children Check, current Victorian Driving Licence and access to a motor vehicle
Desirable:
- Postgraduate degree in relevant discipline (education, psychology, counselling, social work, speech pathology)
