About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
School Performance Division is responsible for frameworks and programs to build the performance of government schools.
The School Performance Division has two branches:
- The School Performance Branch leads statewide coordination of frameworks and initiatives for improving the performance of government schools. This includes overseeing the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0 and associated processes including School Strategic Plans, Annual Implementations Plans, School Annual Reporting and School Reviews. It also includes oversight of tailored support for schools, through the Intensive School Support initiative.
- The Priority Programs Branch leads initiatives that support improved student performance and outcomes for students who need additional support in literacy and numeracy and high-ability students. This includes the Literacy and Numeracy Early Intervention Program, Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Support, the Student Excellence Program, Area Principal Forums, School Networks, Professional Learning Communities and a range of other targeted programs.

School Performance Division is seeking an experienced, self-motivated manager to lead the School Planning, Review and Annual Reporting Unit. The unit has responsibility for leading the continuous implementation of FISO 2.0 through the delivery of the 4 yearly cycle of school review, School Strategic Plans, Annual Implementation Plans and Annual Reports. The unit will from time-to-time support delivery of related initiatives, with responsibilities identified based on current and emerging priority work across the Branch.
The responsibilities of the Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Responsibility for the development of guidance and resources to support implementation, drawing upon data, evidence and evaluations.
- Driving implementation and monitoring delivery, including effective project planning and identifying emerging risks and opportunities
- Leading a team, including recruitment, performance management, staff development and direction setting.
- Overseeing the program budget, including monitoring actual spend, update forecasting as required, and undertaking procurement consistent with Departmental policies and procedures.
- Leading briefings and correspondence, including effective quality assurance.
Attributes
The successful applicant will use their strong skills in people management, project management and financial management. They will demonstrate a high level of data literacy and written communication.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
A relevant tertiary qualification. Experience in delivery of programs within the public service and/or in regionally-based or school-based school improvement roles is preferred.
