An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist to join the Student Support Services (SSS) team based in the Hamilton office of Wimmera South West.

Occupational Therapist

As an Occupational Therapist in Student Support Services, you will help students participate fully in learning by supporting their functional, sensory, motor and self-regulation needs within educational environments.

This is an opportunity to work proactively with schools to create inclusive learning environments and support students to achieve meaningful educational outcomes.

Speech Pathologist

Communication is fundamental to learning, participation and wellbeing. As a Speech Pathologist in Student Support Services, you will work with schools, families and communities to support students to develop the communication skills they need to engage, learn and thrive.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence outcomes not only for individual students but also across entire school communities through consultation, capacity building and collaborative practice.

About the role

This ongoing is based at the Hamilton Office, in the Wimmera South West area. This varied role will see you travel regularly around the Hamilton and Portland area, building relationships and supporting local schools, students and families.

In this role, you will support children and young people to achieve their educational goals, participate fully in school life and overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing. You will:

• Design and implement individualised programs in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers and relevant professionals, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student's age, strengths and needs.
• Document, monitor and accurately report on student participation and progress, evaluating outcomes and making recommendations for future programming.

• Conduct assessment of students in areas such as, communication, alternative and augmentative communication, speech, language, and social/behavioural needs. (Speech Pathologist)
• Attend meetings eg staff, therapy and case conferences and manage and maintain Speech Therapy resources. (Speech Pathologist)
• Provide information about special access equipment and physical barriers withing the school environment as required by staff, parents / carers. (Occupational Therapist)
• Conduct assessment of students in areas such as regulation, fine motor, self care, social interactions. (Occupational Therapist)

Qualifications & Accreditations

Occupational Therapist

• A graduate or post-graduate qualification in occupational therapy or equivalent.
• Registration as a occupational therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• A current Australian Drivers' Licence.

Speech Pathologist

• A graduate or post-graduate qualification in speech pathology or equivalent.
• Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• A current Australian Drivers' Licence.
