Position Details
The Health Wellbeing Support Officer role is on ongoing 1.0FTE position supporting both the Bayside Peninsula Area (0.5) and Southern Melbourne Area (0.5).

The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Group
Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.
This role is located in the Health Wellbeing and Specialist Services Branch, Bayside Peninsula Area (0.5FTE) and Southern Melbourne Area (0.5FTE) , South Eastern Victoria Region, SRS. The Health Wellbeing and Specialist Services Branch is a multidisciplinary team contributing to the implementation and support of government policy and programs in relation to student wellbeing, health, engagement and attendance.
About the Role
Working as part of a multidisciplinary area team, the primary responsibilities of the Health & Wellbeing Support Advisor position includes:
- lead and report on the areas response to the school attendance officer process and contribute to system response planning
- provision of support to the Senior Wellbeing & Engagement Advisor, Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion Workforce staff and Senior Education Improvement Leaders in developing network strategies and brokering local partnerships to address the needs of all children, particularly vulnerable and disengaged children and young people
- plan and undertake a range of activities related to support for all children, particularly vulnerable and disengaged children and young people
- work collaboratively with other area teams and the regional Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to ensure consistent advice and support across the region
- help broker solutions for highly complex individual cases within a multidisciplinary team
- facilitate collaborative partnerships across direct service staff teams
- promote and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including Health, Wellbeing and Inclusion Workforces, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and community support agencies
- provide area staff with advice and support relating to Department health, wellbeing and engagement policy and initiatives.
Attributes
The successful applicant will have strong project management skills and use their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills to provide innovative solutions to complex issues. They will be able to build and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively within a team and across teams. They will also be able to effectively analyse data and use this data to inform decision making and to be ale to work proactively and independently and have high level verbal and written communication skills.
Qualifications and Experience
- Desirable: A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
