About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
School Performance Division is responsible for frameworks and programs to build the performance of government schools.
The School Performance Division has two branches:
- The School Performance Branch leads statewide coordination of frameworks and initiatives for improving the performance of government schools. This includes overseeing the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0 and associated processes including School Strategic Plans, Annual Implementation Plans and School Annual Reporting, school reviews, and key programs including the Intensive Support for School Improvement (ISS) initiative.
- The Priority Programs Branch leads initiatives targeted to priority initiatives that support improved school performance. This includes the Tutor Learning Initiative, Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Support, the Student Excellence Program, Professional Learning Communities, Networks and Collaboration and a range of other targeted programs.

The School Performance Division is seeking a skilled and self-motivated team player to join the Targeted Programs Unit to lead and support initiatives designed to improve student outcomes, with a focus on students who are high achieving and have exceptional ability. The role will also support a range of school performance and improvement initiatives, with responsibilities identified based on current and emerging priority work across the Branch.
The responsibilities of the Senior Program Advisor include, but are not limited to:
- Drafting documentation to support effective project planning and risk management
- Preparing financial and procurement documentation, consistent with Departmental policies and procedures, and undertaking tracking as required.
- Drafting guidance and resources to support implementation, drawing upon data, evidence and evaluations.
- Preparing briefings and correspondence related to the initiative, including effective quality assurance.
- Undertaking analysis of program monitoring data.

The successful applicant will be a team player, contribute to a positive branch culture and have strong skills in project and program delivery, financial and data literacy, contract management/purchasing, written communication and policy.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
A relevant tertiary qualification. Experience in delivery of programs within the public service preferred.
