This is a Full Time Fixed Term position until 31 December 2026.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Program Advisor to join the Department of Education's Career Start team. This role provides the chance to work closely with early career teachers and schools across Victoria, and make a real difference in supporting a strong and sustainable teaching workforce.

The Senior Program Advisor leads the strategic development and delivery of departmental programs and initiatives. This involves providing strategic advice and support throughout the program lifecycle, from initial policy development, 
across different elements of implementation, through to evaluation and continuous policy and program improvement. The Senior Program Advisor manages the scoping, development and delivery of individual projects within the program to ensure they contribute to overall program outcomes. They will work closely with key stakeholders and may manage one or more team members.

The Victorian government's Career Start program supports school teachers in the early years of their teaching career through tailored professional development, mentoring and networking opportunities. The program is designed and implemented by a small central team, in close collaboration with the department's regional offices.

Attributes 

The Senior Program Advisor will be responsible for working with other members of the team and regional colleagues to implement the program - drawing on skills in policy design, professional learning design and implementation, procurement and contract management.
