Position Details
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Corporate Services Division in the Finance and Business Performance Unit for an ongoing position.
- Salary: $95,102 - $107,905 (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)

- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions maybe/are available)
- Usual work location: East Melbourne
Role Purpose
The Finance Advisor contributes towards the delivery of financial and budget management processes within the local work area. The role is focused on supporting the delivery of financial governance, reporting activities and developing systems and processes to support financial integrity and efficiency.
The role is responsible for:
- Provide timely delivery of high-quality budget to actual analysis.
- Identify material variances and trends for the business units to support strategic decision-making and business planning.
- Follow up on variances with stakeholders and provide correction journal when required.
- Assist the divisional management team in developing capability within the designated portfolio in relation
- to budget analysis at a cost centre/project level, and ensuring advice is complying with financial delegations, policy and procedures.
- Support the VCAA Finance team in the preparation of accurate monthly forecasting, Annual budgeting and performance analysis across business units.
- A dedicated focus on value-add to the business, reviewing and implementing process improvement and efficiency initiatives.
- Providing of insightful analysis to internal and external stakeholders, as required.
- Foster good communication within the wider finance and operations teams and external stakeholders.
- Preparation of accounting entries relating to month-end and year-end processing, cash management, GST journal, debtors' management, GL reconciliations, and banking requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of the VCAA annual statutory reporting in accordance with accounting standards and other government and legislative requirements.
- Update and enforcing accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Advising, educating and supporting business units in financial and accounting policy and procedures.
- Assist with supporting of the sound financial management of the VCAA.

Qualifications and experience
- Essential: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business or equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Desirable: Membership of CPA Australia, ICAA or equivalent
