Position Details
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Examinations Branch in the VCE Examinations Unit for an ongoing full-time position.
- Salary: $134,593- $180,115 (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)

Role purpose
The Senior Project Manager - Exam Production and Operations is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of administrative functions, within Examinations Unit. The incumbent will provide direction to production teams, ensuring seamless operation of daily tasks, efficient resource management, and the delivery of examinations to stakeholders.The Senior Project Manager - Exam Production and Operations will ensure that all processes, schedules and documents related to examination development are adhered to and they are reviewed and amended on an annual basis.
The incumbent will play a key role in leading the production staff in the Examination Unit to ensure that there is unity of purpose, good communication amongst the Unit members, across the organisation and beyond to other stakeholders integral to the process of examination development and assessment. This position involves overseeing the governance frameworks to ensure compliance and effective organisational practices in line with Department of Education and VCAA. It also requires maintaining risk register and managing daily opeations to optimise efficiency and address challenges.
The Senior Project Manager Exam Production and Operations main components of the role will include but not limited to:
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy workplace which conforms to compliance standards, and supports responsible workplace behaviours
- Regularly review and update the risk register to reflect current operational and strategic risks, and associated reporting documentation.
- Provide employees with the leadership, information and guidance required to achieve outcomes and to ensure that these meet compliance requirements
- Management of identified contracts, including monitoring and reporting deliverables and building productive working relationships with various suppliers
- Establish and maintain high level processes and procedures that ensure the quality and security of VCE examinations development within the VCE Examinations Units
- Undertake staff recruitment and selection to meet workforce needs according to HR and merit processes
- Manage the print and publication timelines
- Deliver strategic change through a combination of project and business-as-usual activity
- Report on the progress of examination projects and identify emerging risks and issues and propose solutions
- Participate as a member of the leadership team of the Unit, contributing to the planning and operation of the Unit, providing advice on operational matters, risk, procurement and exam production.
About the unit
The VCE Examinations unit develops and produces all VCE written examinations, including those for the Northern Hemisphere Timetable. The unit produces alternative format examinations, examination specifications, sample examination materials and examination reports.

Experience and qualifications
Essential: Demonstrated experience in project management
Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification in Education and Project Management.
Desirable: Background in publication project management with a focus on productions and operations
