Position Details
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Curriculum Division in the VCE Curriculum Unit for a fixed term part-time position
- Salary: $76,817- $93,275 pro rata (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)
- Fixed term role till 09/10/2025
- Usual hours of work: Part time 0.6
- Usual work location: East Melbourne 200 Victoria Parade
Role purpose
The purpose of this role is to support print and online activities within the VCE Curriculum unit.
The Desktop Publisher is responsible for desktop publishing a range of electronic and print based publications for VCE Curriculum including, VCE study designs and related curriculum support material.
Your role will include:
- Preparing text and illustrations and manipulate these as required
- Strong understanding of design and production best practices, processes, and technologies.
- Working with VCAA templates and using VCAA style guidelines to produce high quality curriculum materials and resources to publication standard.
- Providing expert advice and support to the Manager, VCE Curriculum and the Editor on layout and design issues relating to all publications.
- Proficient use in applying appropriate styles and formats, including knowledge of typography, design elements, language fonts, special character settings, and layout principles.
- Adhering to quality control procedures for print and online publishing.
- Working with content management systems, including the development and use of templates
- Webpage publishing and maintenance, using HTML
Using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to create materials for teachers.

The role is located within the VCE Curriculum Unit, reporting to the VCE Curriculum Unit Manager, in the Curriculum Division.
The Curriculum Division of the VCAA develops and delivers high quality curriculum and examinations that enable individual lifelong learning.

Experience and qualifications
Essential Experience - Desktop Publishing:
- Experience in publishing activities, including desktop publishing, preparing illustrations, sourcing, and manipulating images.
Essential Experience - Advanced Computer Skills:
- HTML
- Web content management systems.
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Desirable
- Knowledge of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and familiarity with curriculum materials and education publishing standards
