Position Details
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the in the VCE Curriculum Unit for a fixed term full-time position.
• Salary: $76,817 - $93,275 (Plus Superannuation of 11.5%)
• Fixed term till 9 January 2026
• Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions may be available)
• Usual work location: East Melbourne
Role purpose
The Project Officer provides administrative support to the VCE Curriculum Unit.
This includes the support of VCE review panels, preparation of questionnaires and data reports, development of document templates, stakeholder engagement, assistance in the preparation and maintenance of VCE publications, administrative support of the VCE Professional Learning program and internal committees.
The role also entails collecting and analysing data, preparing meeting agendas and minutes and providing general support to ensure smooth project and program management.
About the unit
The VCE Curriculum Unit manages the ongoing monitoring, review and development of the curriculum and related matters of all Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) studies, including proposals for the review and accreditation of all VCE studies, state-wide implementation programs, authorisation of providers to deliver the VCE and the school-based assessment audit program.
The Unit maintains a system of quality assurance checks for all VCE curriculum publications and manages VCE curriculum communications to internal and external stakeholders.
About you
• You are a detail-oriented professional with strong written and oral communication skills, and proven experience working within tight timelines.
• You have experience planning and undertaking administration and governance of special projects and programs and providing administrative support accoss multiple projects. You are adept at efficiently handling data and reporting tasks.
• The ideal candidate will have experience supporting governanance processes for working parties, Committees and/or Boards and preparing government briefs.
• Additionally, you have a sound understanding of Victorian Public Service policies, processes, and structures, particularly within the education sector, enabling you to align with organisational frameworks effectively.
• Your skill set positions you as a proactive and capable team member, ready to deliver impactful results while effectively managing competing priorities.
Experience and qualifications
Essential:
Relevant tertiary qualification a relevant field
Proficent in Microsoft Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Desirable:
Sound understanding of the Victorian Certificate of Education
Sound understanding of Victorian Public Service policies, processes, and structures, particularly within the education sector
Experience in using program management tools including Asana
Experience in:
Supporting the administration of governance processes for Committees and/or Boards
Preparing government briefs
