Position Details
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Performance, Reporting and Analytics, the Senior Project Officer is responsible for engaging with stakeholders, retrieving and analysing information, and preparing reports for key governance forums including the Early Childhood Committee (ECI), the Portfolio Management Committee (PMC), and the Office of the Minister for Children.
The position requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills, initiative, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to translate complex information into accurate and timely insights to support decision-making.
This is a fixed term position until 26 April 2026
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate reporting activities for the Early Childhood portfolio, ensuring outputs meet the quality and timeliness expectations of executive leadership, PMC, and the Minister's Office.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, clarify requirements, and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Retrieve, analyse, and validate data from multiple sources to produce high-quality performance reports and dashboards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within PRA, including the streamlining of reporting processes and adoption of new data tools.
- Provide high-quality briefings, presentations, and advice to senior executives and stakeholders.

To perform the key responsibilities, the Senior Project Officer must have strong initiative as well as self-management, critical thinking and communication skills. Initiative and self-management are required to plan and coordinate complex reporting tasks independently under tight timelines. Critical thinking assists with resolving issues and ensuring the accuracy of your information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build effective relationships with stakeholders, governance committees, and ministerial offices. To succeed in this role you will have a willingness to learn, adapt to feedback and encourage continuous improvement and growth within the team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power Query
- Experience in performance reporting, data analysis
- Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud, Oracle Aconex, Oracle ERP, and/or IBM Maximo is highly regarded

About the Victorian School Building Authority
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the Division
The Corporate Division provides corporate support to all VSBA teams and fulfills an important assurance and oversight role. They guide VSBA to achieve strategic objectives and ensure decision-making is transparent and accountable.
The division also coordinates communication and consultation with local communities about their school building projects. They develop graphic design and video content, manage our social media channels, lead organisational customer service reform, distribute our e-newsletters and organise ministerial and other events for our projects. The Division also leads the organisational customer service reform and uplift program.
