Position Details

The Senior Software Developer position is a part of the Planning Information Service's Solution Delivery Team, which oversees the digital product development pipeline in line with business needs and architecture directions. The position will work to design and develop intuitive and scalable products within a cross functional agile team.

The Planning Information Services Branch manages the delivery, support and enhancement of all business technology, information services and systems including public facing systems and services.  The team maintains and develops systems to support the work of the Planning Group and the wider planning industry including local government. We adapt and adopt high-quality, secure software engineering practices and blend fast paced software delivery with best practices, helping us shorten the gap between development and production.

We're looking for a candidate will have the skills and experience to be a leader in their area of expertise, helping us make sound development choices, and who will show a demonstrated preference for working across all areas of software delivery to gain new skills and experience, helping the team achieve its goals.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An understanding and application of best practices, standards and patterns for Microservices architecture and connected user interfaces
  • Experience working with container orchestration, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes
  • Extensive and broad experience in many of the following: Java (or Kotlin), Microservices, AWS, React, Spring Boot, Ansible, Git/GitLab
  • Substantial agile software development experience including experience with CI/CD and regular short release cycles (e.g. end of sprint)
  • Experienced in authentication, authorization, access control and distributed systems security concepts and implementation.

This is a fixed term position available for a period until 31 December 2022.
