An exciting opportunity exists to lead the design and implementation of a range of connected supports to provide greater VCE subject choice for rural and regional students through expanded virtual and blended learning opportunities across Victoria. This fixed term 4 year position is based in Melbourne CBD within the Learning and Teaching Branch of the Secondary Reform, Transitions and Priority Cohorts Division (SRTPC). To be successful in this role, you will have strong project, stakeholder and contract management skills sets, possess specialist expertise in virtual learning methodologies and technologies, and in building teacher and student capabilities, and demonstrate exceptional written communication.

Position Details

Principal Policy Officer (Virtual Learning) VPSG6 full-time fixed term 4 years

The Principal policy officer will be a well-organised and highly self-motivated team player with the ability to lead virtual learning support initiatives and to drive outcomes for the Learning and Teaching Branch.  The successful candidate will work flexibly across the Division and work productively to influence stakeholders, policy and projects.

The purpose of this role is to design and implement a range of connected supports to provide greater VCE subject choice for rural and regional students through expanded virtual and blended learning opportunities across Victoria. This will involve extending and embedding ‘best-practice' virtual and blended learning approaches, and helping to modernise current virtual delivery.

The ideal candidate will

• Work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including current state-wide virtual providers to enhance planning, delivery and assessment practices unique to virtual provision

• Co-design supports for rural and regional students to build their skills to participate in virtual learning

• Co-design supports for teachers to improve their capability to deliver subjects virtually

• Lead an exploratory study and pilots to determine whether VET VCE studies could also be expanded virtually

• Identify and address issues specific to virtual learning delivery, engagement and capability building; and 

• Lead a four year program evaluation

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Public sector project management or policy and/or a relevant tertiary degree in Education (Secondary) is desirable.
