This ongoing VPS 5 0.2 EFT role contributes to the operations and management of the Department of Education and Training’s Languages and Multicultural Education Resource Centre in Carlton. Working one day a week in close collaboration with the full-time librarian and library technician, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the centre’s services and operations, with specific tasks and areas of responsibility to be negotiated.

Position Details

The Languages and Multicultural Education Resource Centre (LMERC) in Carlton is part of the EAL Unit, within the Secondary Reform, Transitions and Priority Cohorts Division. LMERC provides resources and advice about resources to teachers and pre-service teachers across the state, working in the areas of English as an Additional language, Languages and the cross curriculum priority areas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Sustainability, Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia.

To succeed in this Librarian role, you will have demonstrated library management experience and skills and be comfortable working as a member of a small team which is remotely managed. You will have a strong customer service focus, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a flexible approach to work. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of activities across the centre's areas of operations, potentially including presentations to groups, research and report or article writing, web and social media.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in information and knowledge management are essential. Qualifications in education are highly desirable.
