About the opportunity

This is an exciting, fixed term opportunity for an Security Analyst within the IT Services Branch / ICT Security Operations. As a Security Analyst, you will design and implement IT security systems to protect the organization's computer networks from cyber attacks. You will also help develop organization wide best practices for IT security. You will monitor computer networks for security issues, install security software and document all security issues or breaches you find. This role works with Child Link. Child Link is a web-based platform that displays information about a child to authorised key professionals who have responsibility for child wellbeing and safety. Child Link shows limited but critical information, such as a child's participation in key early childhood and education services.

About you

The Security Analsyt is responsible for verifying and supporting security and regulatory activities regarding DET's information security governance program. The role specifically provides technical knowledge and analysis of information assurance across applications, operating systems, Internet and Intranet, and physical security such as. access control and perimeter protection, networks, risk assessment, critical infrastructure continuity and contingency planning, emergency preparedness and security awareness and training. The role will involve the development of test cases and sampling (both manual and automated) to support quality control, and will provide detailed reporting on findings for management action.

As our ideal candidate, you will:

  • Have demonstrated experience using and enhancing cyber security related technologies including endpoint protection, SIEM, intrusiion protection, cloud monitoring, and identity management.
  • Hold relevant tertiary qualification in Cyber Security or related field and Certification from relevant security body of knowledge (CISSP or GAIC preferred)
  • The successful applicant will understand the Department's values, want to work in the public sector, and will abide by the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct.
