Project Officer

A highly skilled and motivated individual is sought to join the Tertiary Education Governance Unit located within the Higher Education and Skills Group of the Department of Education and Training as a Project Officer. The Unit is responsible for managing governance arrangements for Victoria’s 12 TAFE institutes and 8 public universities. This includes managing appointments to TAFE boards and university councils, and leading reforms to governance arrangements for TAFE institutes and universities.

Position Details

PROJECT OFFICER

The primary purpose of the role is to support key elements of the work of the Tertiary Education Governance unit and provide authoritative advice on all matters relating to governance (including university council and TAFE institute board appointments and the implementation of the Government's governance reforms).

To be successful in this role you will be client focused and can be relied on for your strong influencing, diagnosing and decision making skills. Your capacity to establish and maintain productive and consultative relationships will be critical as will the ability to deliver outcomes and drive change in a complex environment.

The successful candidate will have:

• experience in project and / or program management with demonstrated delivery of successful outcomes

• strong conceptual and analytical skills, as well as being able to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• excellent organisation, written and verbal communication skills and experience in working for government

• excellent ability to research, analyse, and provide advice on data and information quickly, and an ability to consider and provide advice on policy options.
